America’s story is a story of movement, opportunity, and resilience. In this engaging and interactive presentation, genealogist Katherine R. Willson traces the journeys of families across generations, exploring how people built lives in a nation that offered hope while often imposing barriers.
From Native American communities and early colonial settlers to African Americans and waves of 19th- and 20th-century European immigrants, this program follows the paths people took through a rapidly changing country—sometimes by choice, sometimes under pressure. Along the way, we’ll look at how immigrants and other marginalized groups faced questions of rights, identity, and belonging, and how their experiences became part of the larger American story.
Through guided reflection and discussion, attendees will consider how opportunity, hardship, and perseverance shaped these communities, and will leave with practical ideas for preserving their own family stories for future generations.
