Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with these fun programs to celebrate, honor, and highlight Asian Pacific American Heritage!
- May 8 at 2 p.m.- Addressing Hate Crimes Against Asians- Brought to you by the City of Dallas and the Dallas Chinese Community Center, this panel discussion will address the history of racism against Asians in the past and present and share resources on how to promote safety, prevention, and reporting hate crimes.
- May 18 at 6:30 p.m.- History of Henna- From the medical uses to the cultural significance, Henna is widely used among many cultures throughout Asia and North Africa. Learn about henna's various uses outside of body art.
- May 20 at 11 a.m.- Japan-in-a-Suitcase: Kamishibai, Japanese Storytelling- Japan‑in‑a‑Suitcase is an educational program that gives participants a chance to experience Japanese culture, customs, and contemporary life.
- May 20 at 12 p.m. - Storytelling: Asian Folktales (Bilingual)- For children and adults! Sit, listen, and be entertained as we read from different folktales from around Asia and discuss their origins. We will be listening to stories told in both their native langue and in English.
- May 21 at 12 p.m.- The Art of Henna: A Live Demonstration - From the mixing of the henna paste to drawing the patterns, watch a master henna artist demonstrate their craft.
- May 25 at 12 p.m.- Resilience: The Asian American Community in Dallas- This one-hour presentation and conversation will focus on the long and foundational history of Asians in Dallas that demonstrates the resilient spirit of our community.
- May 26 at 10:30 a.m.- Bilingual Storytime: Mandarin and English- Ms. Shiny will read Monkey King Adventure and will teach you the numbers 1,2, and 3, and Chinese greetings in Mandarin! (Suggested ages: 6 years old and under)

Participants will learn to fold their own Origami creations. Origami paper is not necessary but encouraged if you have some available.
- May 29 at 6 p.m. - Bharatanatyam: Indian Classical Dance - Immerse yourself in the rich and elaborate tradition of Indian classical dance. Bhuvana Venkatraman, founder, dancer, and choreographer of Tejas Dance, will share her knowledge of the Bharatanatyam art form and its dances with a selection of performances.
