Event Details

Courtney Kelly is a local author who has just self published her first children's book "Celeste Saves the City". Courtney will do a live reading followed by Q&A at the Martin Luther King Branch Library. Courtney will be signing copies of her book as well!

More about Celeste Saves the City from the author:

While looking out at Lake Pontchartrain, where the water seemed to touch the dark gray sky, Celeste told her dad, “When I grow up, I’ll help the city of New Orleans stay dry!”

“How will you do that?” her father then asked.

Celeste quickly answered, “I will become a civil engineer to complete this task!”

Follow the story of Celeste, a young Black girl from New Orleans, as she finds a way to keep the city from flooding by becoming a civil engineer after her family is forced to evacuate due to Hurricane Katrina.
