Event Details
Bharatanatyam, the most widely practiced form of Indian Classical dances in the world, is considered to be over 2000 years old from South India. A bharatanatyam dancer not only through dance movements narrates a story, but also evokes and creates dramatic images through her eyes, body, and gestures.
In this 4-week session, participants will be taught a few gestures (mudras) and try out certain leg movements. If time permits we will also learn to dance a nursery rhyme.
Proper attire would help for easy movement in dancing. The right kind of pant for this dance would be a yoga capri with a half sleeve shirt. Please no sleeveless or full sleeve shirts. This dance is practiced in bare feet. Kindly tie your hair.
If you are interested you can bring a book and a pen/pencil to write down what we learn.
