This event will feature a literary legacy workshop by The Writing Doula, a genealogy workshop by Ari Wilkins, and live painting and art talk by Desmond Blair.
Browse art by local artists, shop vendors, have some good eats, vibe out with DJ Céynt, and participate in literary crafts!

Beginning African American Genealogy (1950 to 1870) - Ari Wilkins 11:30 AM - 12:15 PM
Ari is a coordinator and lecturer at TIGR, SLIG, GRIP, and IGHR. She specializes in African American research and speaks on a variety of topics. Ms. Wilkins is a fellow of Texas State Genealogical Society and a recipient of the Lloyd Bockstruck Distinguished Service Award.
In her workshop, you will learn about the basic steps in starting African American research, genealogical resources, and strategies.
Literary Workshop: Family Scribes - The Writing Doula 12:30 - 1:30 PM
Linda Jones' experience combines a career as a professional journalist and a certified grief recovery specialist, along with studies in cognitive behavior, social-emotional learning, life coaching, Vipassana meditation, somatic breathwork, and research-based mindfulness practices.
Using memory-stimulating prompts, participants will turn their past experiences into mini life stories.
Unconquerable Souls - Desmond Blair 2:00 - 3:00 PM
Join Dallas-based artist Desmond Blair for an engaging artist talk exploring the inspiration, process, and powerful themes behind Unconquerable Souls. Blair will discuss how his work celebrates resilience, cultural identity, and the enduring spirit of Black communities through bold color, layered storytelling, and contemporary visual narratives. Attendees will gain insight into his creative journey, the symbolism within the featured works, and the role art plays in preserving history, sparking dialogue, and inspiring future generations.
Desmond will be painting live at the event.
