Program Description

Children will learn to create positive affirmations for themselves. Learning to write down or create your own positive affirmations can help improve what we say, how we think, and even improve our actions!

(SEL) Social and Emotional Learning Teaching empathy, Self-management, and Self-awareness. The instructor will share their screen to show a video appropriate to the discussion. 

Children will create or design their own positive affirmations and discuss the importance of how you both see yourself and speak concerning yourself (organizing your thoughts, goal setting, and coping mechanisms, anger management, and battling self-sabotaging behaviors while mitigating stress). 

Children will decide the one sentence affirmation they would like to write. Put that affirmation on a separate piece of paper or note card. Then the children would then design a decorative border to put around the affirmation card. 

We'll do at least 2 to 3 of these for practice. Children will be allowed to add additional affirmations. 

Program Focus: We will discuss the power of positive affirmations and the importance of canceling out negative messages not only embedded into our minds by others, but the negative messages we send to ourselves. 

This type of self-messaging can encourage self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-love.
