The American Frontier, also known as the Wild West, has been the source of countless legends, icons, and heroes such as, Billy The Kid, Jesse James and Lawman Wyatt Earp. The myth of the Wild West has inspired many historians, educators, and filmmakers to publish stories about the dangers of life in the Western Frontier. But is that the whole story? Learn about the role for the Black cowboy at a screening of Cowboys of Color, a documentary chronicling the past, present, and future of Black cowboys in America. A panel discussion led by film director and producer Coy Poitier will follow the screening.
Coy Poitier (/’pwa:tier/) is a successful and passionate community leader, award-winning film director, urban agricultural consultant, musician, motivational speaker, and certified master gardener.
