Program Description

Event Details

As we celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Month, we will learn about different Asian Cultures and will highlight a new country each week. Tapa cloth is made from native plants typically found throughout the Pacific Islands such as Samoa, Hawaii, and Fiji. Used for both functional and ceremonial purposes, tapa cloth is decorated with organic and geometric shapes using natural dyes made from plants. During this after school craft, we will be making our own tapa cloth from paper bags.
