Here we go reading again!
This month, join us for another meeting of the DiverSci-fi Book Club!
The aim of this club is to be open and accessible to everyone, and to read as many sci-fi & fantasy works from diverse authors as we can.
For this meeting, we'll be discussing Octavia Butler's incredible novel, Kindred.
"This combination of slave memoir, fantasy, and historical fiction is a novel of rich literary complexity. Having just celebrated her 26th birthday in 1976 California, Dana, an African-American woman, is suddenly and inexplicably wrenched through time into antebellum Maryland. After saving a drowning white boy there, she finds herself staring into the barrel of a shotgun and is transported back to the present just in time to save her life. During numerous such time-defying episodes with the same young man, she realizes the challenge she’s been given.." -Goodreads.com
As always, you can find available copies on the DPL catalog here! It's also available as an e-book and e-audiobook! If anyone has trouble finding the book, please reach out to Rudy at rudolph.rihner@dallascityhall.com
This group primarily reads books written for adults. This program is online only.
