Water Conservation – Drips and Tips

Water conservation is on everyone’s mind during the hot summer months. Most of the water you use as a homeowner is for the lawn or garden. Learn about rain barrels and olla pots for your garden. Learn how to make easy and affordable olla pots and how to add them to your garden or large pots. Also learn how to make a weekend watering bottle!

If you’d like to make the olla or weekend watering bottle during class, you will need:

  • 8-inch terracotta pot
  • 8- or 10-inch pot saucer
  • Mounting putty
  • Large glass bottle with a screw top lid
  • Small nail
  • Hammer
  • Optional: corks cut lengthwise or palm-sized rocks or stones

Earth Day Every Day! is a series of online environmental education sessions to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.  Presented by Dallas Environmental Quality and Sustainability (DEQS; Green Dallas).  These topics empower Dallas residents to make sustainable choices to improve the quality of life for everyone in Dallas and the world.
