Event Details
Spend an afternoon building your art skills with instructor Irving.
Bring a sketchbook and participate in lessons covering different media, techniques, and subjects.
Each class focuses on drawing through a self-guided process—sketches may include finished pieces or quick studies exploring composition, form, value, and personal style. Lessons may involve drawing from still lifes, live models, or individual arrangements. Some sessions will also include feedback and focused reviews.
Classes are held on Thursdays and select weekends.
This is a single-session class.
To attend multiple classes, you must sign up for each session individually. Sign-ups open at the start of each week for that week's available classes.
If a class is full, you may come in person and wait to see if a seat becomes available. Once the doors close, any open seats will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Only 10 seats are available, so please sign up any guests that wish to attend with you as well.
Classes will take place on the 4th floor of the J. Erik Jonsson Library, inside the Lillian M. Bradshaw Gallery.
Materials:
The only required material is an 8.5 x 11 inch sketchbook. Drawing tools and large drawing paper pads will be provided for certain lessons. However, artists are encouraged to bring their own sketching tools, drawing pads, and large portfolios for the safe storage of their artwork.
This program was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Dallas Public Library.
