Event Details

Trees give beauty and grace to our city. But the urban forest provides many other practical benefits that save money and improve our health. Join City of Dallas Arborists Jessie Farris and Preston Willms as they discuss the importance of tree planting, care, conservation, and best management practices.

Jessie Farris, City Arborist, Masters in Sustainable Resource Management -

Jessie developed a passion for conservation and native plants at Texas Christian University before graduating in 2017. She worked as a horticulturist at the Shangri La Botanical Research and Nature Center before joining the City of Dallas as the Northwest District Arborist. When she’s not in the field or meeting with clients, Jessie’s focus is on public education and developing training materials for the City. She also serves as the Secretary for the Trinity Blacklands Urban Forestry Council.

Preston Willms, Northeast District Arborist -

Preston is an East Dallas native and studied horticulture at Texas State University after a stint in the Marines. He dabbled in farming and was a horticulture manager at the Dallas Arboretum before joining the City of Dallas as the Northeast District Arborist.

Earth Day Every Day continues in 2021 providing a series of online environmental education sessions to help us make the connection between how we live and the health of the planet.  Presented by Dallas Environmental Quality and Sustainability (DEQS: Green Dallas). These topics empower Dallas residents to make sustainable choices to improve the quality of life for everyone in Dallas and the world.
