Program Description

Event Details

Genealogy Expert Patti Gillespie, owner of Family Lines and Stories, will help genealogy researchers better understand how to locate their ancestor's Scottish origins. She will present on one of her family's ancestors - Robert Gillespie, husband, father, and miner who emigrated to the United States in 1869; he never became a United States citizen. Without naturalization information, it becomes more difficult to find the birthplace of the émigré before 1900. This presentation concentrates on looking for other sources and sites to find Robert’s hometown.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Dallas Public Library.

This program is available both in-person at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, 8th floor AND online via Zoom. Register below for either option.
