Event Details
Let your creativity shine as we celebrate Juneteenth with color, culture, and crowns! This vibrant family program honors the spirit of Black freedom and expression by spotlighting legendary artist Jean-Michel Basquiat—whose iconic crown symbol celebrated Black royalty, resilience, and brilliance.
We’ll learn about Basquiat’s life and legacy, the meaning behind his powerful crown, and how art can be a form of protest, pride, and storytelling. Then, using colorful materials and your own imagination, you’ll design a "Freedom Crown" that reflects what liberation, identity, and joy mean to you.
Juneteenth is more than a date—it’s a celebration of freedom and a call to recognize the contributions of Black artists, pioneers, and leaders past and present. Let’s honor that legacy with art that uplifts, empowers, and crowns every voice. All ages welcome!
