The Healthy Start Project for Women and Children (HSPWC) is within the Connecting Kids to Coverage (CKC) Program at CCGD. This project targets underserved pregnant moms and their young children for enhanced nutrition and child development education when enrolling pregnant moms and children for healthcare. The project seeks to impact health outcomes for pregnant women and their children through a food as medicine approach. We currently provide healthcare navigator assistance for enrollment in Medicaid and CHIP for Pregnant Moms and young children in Dallas and Tarrant Counties in English, Spanish and Vietnamese. The Healthy Start Project can enhance health prevention through nutrition and child development education for pregnant and post-pregnancy moms and their young children.  Participants enrolled in nutrition education classes will receive food security support ($100 gift card) during the Healthy Start project for participating at one class in person.
