Program Description

Event Details

In observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Bachman Lake staff will provide a fun craft to our local children and a lesson on its cultural significance every week.

This week we'll be guiding children as they emulate Amate (pronounced: Ah-mah-tay) paintings that were practiced by the indigenous peoples of Central America before the European colonists arrived. But unlike the bark this practice is derived from, we'll be using brown paper bags.

Templates of the designs will be provided, as will blank bags that will also be available.
