Discussing Deep Ellum's cotton-picking journey to freedom, Donald Payton, known as the "unofficial historian of Black Dallas," and Clarence Glover, Jr, aka "Professor Freedom", are leading a panel over the history of Deep Ellum. A center of Dallas Black culture, they will be discussing how Deep Ellum first started as a cotton production center of Dallas and became the business and cultural center of Black Dallas and how it has evolved into the Deep Ellum we know today. 

 

This program is free, open to the public and sponsored by the Friends of the Dallas Public Library.
