Event Details
Join Writer/Director Iv Amenti as she curates a "sound anthropology" experience for the Juneteenth Jubilee. Audiences will listen, dialogue, and reflect on the sounds of traditional slave folk songs, ring shouts, civil rights era music, 80’s social hip hop, and contemporary resistance artists who have been the underscore of the African American plight for freedom.
This will be co-hosted by Dallas Grammy Award-winning musician Geno Young, who will also perform a small piano concert entitled “Sounds of Freedom.”
This "Sound Anthropology" program is brought to you by the Office of Arts & Culture's Community Artist Program and is part of our Juneteenth Jubilee Celebration!
