Know Your City: Housing & Community Development

Know Your City is an ongoing series all about how the City of Dallas works. This is designed to provide information about city departments and offer residents the opportunity to ask questions of the people who provide essential services.

Housing and Community Development will explain their role in investing in economic inclusion. They support renters, homeowners and homebuyers through grants and local funds. They help residents with programs such as the Home Buyers Assistance, Home Improvement & Preservation Program (HIPP) and Lien Release Assistance. Their duties include connecting residents to affordable housing resources such as the Dallas Housing Authority, Texas Homeowners Assistance, and TDHCA Vacancy Clearinghouse.
