Dallas Public Library is celebrating Mother's Day early this year! Spend your lunch hour with the Reverend Dr. Irie L. Session, local artist Jennifer Wester, and Reverend Winner Laws as we discuss motherhood and poetry.

Reverend Dr. Irie L. Session and Reverend Winner Laws are leaders of The Gathering Womanist Church in Dallas, whose worship prioritizes racial equity, dismantling PMS (P\patriarchy, misogyny, and sexism), and LGBTQ equality. Reverend Dr. Irie Lynne Session is the proud mother of India Liana Session. Reverend Winner Laws is a Mother-figure for her nieces and nephews.

Dallas native Jennifer Wester is a multi-disciplinary artist and recent M.F.A. graduate of Southern Methodist University's Meadow School of the Arts. Jennifer is a familiar face in the Oak Cliff/West Dallas area where she often volunteers her time leading art classes for children. Jennifer is the proud mother of two boys.

Presenters will read and discuss their favorite poems that inspire them as femme caregivers and talk about their individual experiences with motherhood.

You do not have to be a mother to participate! This event is for anyone that is a mom, identifies as a mom, or has a mom (dog moms, cat moms, plant moms, etc. included).

This is an online virtual event which can be accessed through Zoom.
