Life Skills for Everyday Heroes is the program that tackles the stuff we should've learned in school but didn't—like car maintenance, cooking (without setting off the smoke alarm), and, of course, sewing. Say goodbye to using paperclips to hold up your pants—it's time to get practical!
This March, it's all about textiles. Participants will learn practical sewing applications that’ll keep your favorite items out of the trash. Did you know Americans generate 16 million tons of textile waste per year? The skills learned will help extend the life of your wardrobe while cutting down on waste! Sewing isn’t just for grandmas—it’s an earth-saving, life-saving skill. Picture Navy SEALs using tactical stitches to repair gear during a mission or ER doctors stitching up patients. Yep, sewing can literally save the day!
While you're mastering sewing, we'll also decode those confusing laundry symbols on clothing tags. Ever wondered what "do not tumble dry" really means? It’s time to crack the code on fabric care so you won’t accidentally turn your clothes into a colorful mess. This hands-on, no-sewing-machine-required class teaches valuable skills everyone—yes, even you—can use.
