Welcome to the Lunch and Learn series of talks! Today’s obsession with true crime, mysteries, and thrillers is nothing new, and much of it can be traced back to the fiction of 1920s and 30s. Local literary instructor and adaptation scholar, Joy Morrow, will be talking all about some of the women who contributed to the Golden Age of Detective fiction, both the prominent and the more obscure. She will discuss the creations and enduring legacies of authors such as Agatha Christie and Dorothy L. Sayers as well as lesser-known authors who have been rediscovered in the last couple decades. We will consider what about detective fiction appealed to women as both authors and readers as the twentieth century got underway. Join us for domestic disruptions, drawing room denouements, and delightful detection.
