Before there were written numbers, there was the abacus. Learn of this ancient tool's history, the tips and tricks to use it, and how to craft your own! If you are more of a visual learner, you will not want to miss out on how to use this practical tool that is still in use today for it's universal ability to perform easy addition and subtraction. Please see attached supply list for what you'll need to make your own abacus.
This program is available online only. Registration is required. Details on how to participate will be emailed the day of the program. The email may go to your spam folder.
Supplies Needed for Making Your Own Abacus:
- 6 popsicle sticks
- 4 wooden skewers- cut them to be 5 inches long
- 20 Pony beads (suggested but not required to have 4 of one color and 16 of a different color)
- Tacky glue (hot glue works best but will require adult supervision)
