Step into a world of science fiction, artificial intelligence and Murderbot with award-winning author and Texas native Martha Wells. The evening will be filled with activities to entertain and inspire you! 

And don't forget to stop by our merchants' area and support local shops!

  • Sci-Fi/Fantasy Book Swap (4 to 7 p.m.)
    • Bring a book and take a book! We'll have a collection of speculative books for you to look through.
  • Sci-Fi Trivia (4 to 5 p.m.)
    • Test your knowledge with a mix of sci-fi literature trivia, including famous AI in fiction.
  • Photo Op Area (4–7:30 p.m.)
    • Snap a picture in a sci-fi-inspired setting to commemorate the night. Cosplay is always welcome and encouraged!
  • Murderbot Confessional (4 to 7:30 p.m.)
    • Step into the StoryCenter to record your own “Murderbot-style” diary entry or confessional. Submissions will be compiled into a digital archive.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Ethics (4:45 to 5:45 p.m.)
    • ALA AI-certified library staff will guide a thought-provoking discussion on the uses and ethical considerations of AI.
  • Book Sales by Half Price Books (5:30 to 7:30 p.m.)
    • Browse and purchase books, including selections related to the evening’s themes.
  • Author Talk with Martha Wells (6 to 7 p.m.)
