Program Description

Event Details

The kids will learn about waterproof materials. In this exercise, children will color a picture of a soccer cleat and then cover it with materials of their choice before drops of water are placed on the cleat (Vanstone 2024a). If the materials are waterproof, the water droplets will soak into them and make the colors on the picture beneath begin to bleed. Students will then use the knowledge gained in that exercise to design and build a model of the best possible soccer cleat to wear during a game that is happening during a rainstorm.

STEAM: Create a Rainproof Soccer Cleat is part of SMART Summer. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Dallas Public Library.
