On the 186th anniversary of the Siege of Bexar, a victorious battle for the Texians, learn about Erastus "Deaf" Smith, a man of many aspects including an appointed "spy and scout" for General Stephen F. Austin. 

Dr. Steve C. Baldwin of the Deaf Culture & History Section, National Association of the Deaf, grew up between the shadow of the Bunker Hill Monument and "Old Ironsides" in Charlestown (Boston), Mass.  He authored two books, wrote over 100 articles, and 26 plays.  He once acted at Dallas Theater Center.  After nearly 40 years of teaching, he retired with his wife in South Austin. For nearly 40 years, he has researched, lectured, and wrote about Erastus "Deaf" Smith.
