Drag Kings might be a few steps behind Queens in the limelight, but they've been performing alongside their counterparts for years. From Elvis impersonators to Dallas' own, Buck Wylde, Kings have been making ripples in the fishy waters and it's time to make a splash! Austin performer and Drag King, The Great Tex is here to answer questions and give us a little behind-the-beard look at their drag lewk, and how you can do it at home!
The Great Tex (they/them) is an Austin drag king, a part of the Boyz of Austin troupe (2019 and 2021 Austin Chronicle nominee for the Best Drag Showcase of Austin). Tex is known for nearly choking on pizza on stage, playing cello over dubstep, and pulling off a Britney Spears/Metallica combo. They are the glittery mustached enby you never knew you needed.
**In the LGBTQ community, an enby is a nonbinary person. It's a phonetic pronunciation of NB, short for nonbinary, or people who do not identify their gender as male or female.
