Spiders and beetles and centipedes, OH MY! Come join Bernie the Bug Lady as she shows her collection of insects and teaches all about the world of bugs.

Spark creativity and let imagination take center stage! Kid’s Maker Studio is the place where young creators explore art, build cool projects, and try hands-on activities that stretch both creativity and confidence.

All members of the Lakewood Library Friends and arts show participants are invited!  Enjoy light refreshments, meet the artists, and maybe even take home a piece of art for your own collection.

Calling all crafters, artists, and DIY'ers! Are you new to the makers scene or an experienced crafter? Visit with your peers and try something new at our Make & Mingle day!

Craft stations will include:

A mysterious portal pulls four misfits into the Overworld, a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To get back home, they'll have to master the terrain while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected crafter named Steve.

Take a leisurely morning stroll through the library's neighborhood! We will do some warm up stretching, walk a full mile every Monday morning, half a mile each way, and stretch again!

Start the week with a little peace of mind—literally! Breathe in calm and breathe out stress during gentle, guided meditation sessions designed to refresh focus and restore balance.

A bite-sized, themed reading adventure designed to spark curiosity and keep the fun going! Each session explores a new theme with engaging stories and coloring afterwards. 

Dallas Innovation Alliance is conducting office hours with one-on-one computer help, digital literacy lessons, and benefits aid at the MLK Jr. Library with or without your own device.

Calling all kid builders!

Come to the Lochwood Branch Library and build with LEGO bricks. Challenge your brain with some exciting builds and have lots of fun! We supply the LEGO bricks, you supply the creativity and positive attitude!

Refuel in the summer with a free nutritious super snack for ages 1-18. Meals are made possible through the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Child and Education PV.

Practice the skills you need to be ready to read. Hear stories, sing songs, jump around and learn!

Suggested ages: 18 months - 3 years old
