Follow five members of a champion chess team from a below-the-poverty-line junior high in Brooklyn.

Discussion will be led by local author, educator, and former U.S. Women's Chess Champion Dr. Alexey Root. Dr. Root holds the Woman International Master from the World Chess Federation, is the author of seven books, including Read, Write, Checkmate: Enrich Literacy With Chess Activities. She teaches college credit courses, available worldwide via UT Dallas eLearning, about chess in education. Dr. Root will have books available for purchase.
