Happy Lunar New Year! The year of the tiger starts on February 1st.
Paper cutting is a type of Chinese folk art commonly seen during the new year celebrations. Paper is folded and cut with scissors to make beautiful patterns and shapes. They are usually made with red paper, because the color red represents good luck and happiness in Chinese culture. The cut-outs are used to decorate windows so that the light shines through them.
Grab a craft bag at the library to take home! Each kit will contain templates to cut out your own paper tiger. Happy crafting!
