The 22nd Annual Stewpot Art Exhibition
December 1, 2017– January 30, 2018
Opening Reception-Sunday, December 3, 1:30-4:00PM
The Stewpot Art Program offers a safe studio where artists of all skill levels, from professional artists to people who just want a safe place to enjoy creating, are welcome to come and explore their creativity. The program is open to all homeless and at-risk adults.
The studio is a place to create trust and to foster an environment that is conducive to developing creative skills and freeing artistic expression. The program supplies art materials, field trips to art museums, and volunteers who are artists themselves and are present to help.
The studio is open throughout the week and exhibitions of work are held throughout the year at galleries, art fairs and local churches. You are invited to make an appointment to visit our “Second Floor Gallery” at the Stewpot. It is located at 1822 Young St. in downtown Dallas. E-mail the director of the art program, Cynthia Brannum at cynthiab@thestewpot.org to set-up an appointment.
The Stewpot is a service provider and day shelter for the homeless and provides casework services, dental, job search assistance and many other services to aid the homeless in the Dallas area. The Stewpot now serves approximately 1700 meals a day at the “Second Chance Café” located at the city run homeless shelter, The Bridge, and serves 7 days a week. The Stewpot is a community outreach program of First Presbyterian Church.
This exhibition and art sale is now in its 22nd year and represents a small selection of work by Stewpot artists. The artist reveives 90% of the sale (minus sales tax) and the remaining 10% funds supplies and field trips for the program. To purchase artwork, please contact Cynthia Brannum at cynthiab@thestewpot.org
