The African American Genealogical Interest Group explores areas of genealogy research unique to the African American community. Learn about different sources used in this special area of genealogical research including census research, reconstruction and Freedman Bureau records, U.S. Colored Troops records, plantation slave records, slave schedules and more. Join the group for a FREE monthly meeting to hear an expert speaker present on topics of slavery, customs, traditions, state laws, and the techniques and methods used in their research.

The African American Genealogical Interest Group is a special interest group of the Dallas Genealogical Society. Monthly meetings are free and open to all.
