Program Description

Event Details

The Art in the Style of... program is a monthly art history and hands-on workshop series that spotlights influential artists whose work resonates deeply within the Oak Lawn community. Each session provides participants with an opportunity to learn about a featured artist’s techniques, themes, and creative impact, followed by a guided art activity inspired by that artist’s style.

This March, step into the world of iconic pop artist Marjorie Strider! Known for her bold and colorful representations of women's empowerment, Strider reshaped the way femininity was portrayed in art. Fun fact: Strider’s work was featured in the 1964 "The New American Painting" exhibition, helping introduce pop art to Europe. In this exciting session, participants will create their own multimedia piece inspired by her distinctive style, using a selection of materials provided. Experience how Strider’s revolutionary approach continues to influence the art world today!
