Juneteenth Celebrations at the Central Library
Saturday, June 17
Celebrate the Juneteenth National holiday with a day of activities at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library!
No registration is required for these events.
- Tenth Street and The Bottom Dallas History Talk with Donald Payton: 11-11:30 am, O'Hara Hall, 7th floor
- Musician Stanley Glenn Performs music by blues artist T-Bone Walker: 11:30 am-12pm, O'Hara Hall, 7th floor
- "A Free Man Cries for the Future:" performance 1-1:30 pm, Auditorium, 1st floor Made possible by the generosity of the Office of Arts & Culture and the Community Arts Pop-Up Cultural Center.
- Making Remembrance Stones with the Nasher Sculpture Center 1:45-3 pm, East/West Room, 1st floor
- DIY Juneteenth Buttons: 2-3 pm, Children's Center Craft Area, 2nd floor

From The Bottom to Tenth Street Exhibit, 7th floor
The Dallas History & Archives Division, in partnership with the Tenth Street Residents' Association, will feature an exhibit celebrating the rich history of the Tenth Street and The Bottom neighborhoods. The exhibit is located on the 7th floor of the Central Library and will combine historic imagery from the archive with items of historic significance provided by Tenth Street and The Bottom residents.

Zulu Bead Juneteenth Craft
Join us in making a Zulu inspired bracelet! We will be using a weaving technique and large pony beads to make this craft friendly to all ages! Supplies provided.

Juneteenth DIY: Yoruba Dye Work
In celebration of Juneteenth we're practicing a traditional dye technique called adire which finds its origins in Nigeria. All supplies will be provided. Note: This class is intended for adults only as there will be heavy dye use that may stain if used improperly.
