Program Description

Event Details

In this special Mother's Day storytime event, we will read books, learn dances and movements, and complete a craft. This program is designed to develop your child's fine and gross motor skills, coordination, facial expression, and attention.

We have partnered with local occupational therapist and classical Indian dancer Gargi Sukhatankar to bring this unique storytime to the library. We will use movements, expressions, and other concepts found in classical Indian dance, paired with children's books and crafts in this one-of-a-kind storytelling experience.

A note from our program partner, Gargi:

Hi parents,

I’m a Registered pediatric Occupational therapist, Registered yoga teacher and also a classical Indian dancer.

I am passionate about all three disciplines. Through this dance and storytelling activity my goal is to enhance kids’ social skills ( using facial expressions), fine motor skills ( using hand gestures) and increase focus and attention through the use of listening and putting the story together with their body, mind and face. In addition they will learn about new cultures and art forms.

I look forward to having you joining us in this new adventure.
