In recent years, the City of Dallas has been working to serve residents more equitably. Because so many of our neighbors face food insecurity, efforts to make fresh, healthy food more attainable are on the rise. One such effort is located in an unlikely place: a skate park in South Dallas. The 4DWN (pronounced Four Down) Skate Park is more than just a place to practice your kick flips and aerial tricks. They have a community garden and multiple service outreach engagements to reach those who may otherwise be underserved.

Join us as our speaker, Theresa Tumminia, tells us how the 4DWN developed far beyond being just a skate park to serve their community. Theresa Tumminia currently serves as the Director of Outreach & Programming for 4DWN Skatepark. Since joining the staff, she has implemented specific programs & helped promote the vision of the co-founders to combat food insecurity and promote sustainability in underserved communities.

Earth Day Every Day is a series of online environmental education sessions continuing with the Earth Day theme and bringing expert speakers, special program topics, and a reminder that every day is Earth Day. Presented by Dallas Environmental Quality and Sustainability (DEQS; Green Dallas).  These topics empower Dallas residents to make sustainable choices that improve the quality of life for everyone in Dallas and the world.

This program is available online only, through Zoom. Registration is required. Zoom information will be emailed the day of the program. Emails may go to your spam folder.
