Earth Day, Every Day!: Texas Stream Team Program

Join us for a walk along the streams, creeks, lakes, and the Trinity River with Christopher Morris, an Environmental Coordinator at the Office of Environmental Quality and Sustainability Stormwater Management for the City of Dallas. Learn about the citizen scientist program Texas Stream Team and how he guides this program. The Texas Stream Team program increases public knowledge by enabling individuals or groups to sample water bodies for water quality parameters and assess the health of these critical riparian habitats. Data collected can help municipalities make changes to improve our surface waters.

Christopher Morris, Environmental Coordinator

Chris has been an employee with the City of Dallas for eleven years. A portion of his work is the management and guidance of the Texas Stream Team program, which he has led since 2012. Texas Stream Team is a Community Science program in a joint partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment in San Marcos, Texas. The program is coordinated by Texas State University and facilitated by groups and municipalities throughout Texas including the City of Dallas. He holds a Bachelor of Science Zoology from Texas A&M University. Chris has been in and walked almost every stream, creek, lake shoreline in Dallas, as well as the banks of the Trinity River. He knows water and the plants and creatures thriving in it.
