Event Details

Take a short trip through the history of flowers, in mythology, history, literature and specifically the Victorian Era.  This talk acquaints you with the hidden meaning of flowers, how the Victorians used this “secret language” and other interesting facts of flowers.

Lois grew up in Virginia and thought all plants grew wherever they were planted. After moving to Texas in 1980 and losing all flowers, vegetables and bushes to inappropriate watering or care, Lois decided that she needed to learn about Texas’ landscape.

After years of self-study, she decided it might be a good idea to go to those who know how to grow in the state of Texas; signing up to become a Dallas County Master Gardener. Its program helped, but then she wanted to know more about native plants, insects, and our place in the environment, thus becoming a Master Naturalist. Lois is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and helping her neighbors, friends and all who will listen; know the best plants and practices to have a thriving flower, butterfly, pollinator, vegetable and more importantly a native garden.
