Event Details
According to oral legend, African American slaves used codes, symbols, and secret message to to navigate the Underground Railroad to freedom. Quilt codes were said to be interpreted through patterns of secret codes, words, and signs that passed on messages. These and other clandestine methods aided escaping slaves, and those who were helping them in this very dangerous journey. Participants in the workshop will make one quilt block during the workshop. All supplies will be provided.
