Event Details

Many people residing in Germany don't participate in DNA testing which makes it more difficult to find DNA matches actually in Germany. This month's featured speaker Sabine Akabayov will address differences in DNA genealogy between U.S. and German researchers, and how to use your DNA estimates to narrow down the location of your German ancestors.

Learn which DNA testing platform is best to find German DNA matches and how to increase your chances receiving an answer when contacting distant relatives.

The focus of the German Genealogy Group is researching migrants who immigrated from German-speaking areas of Europe to various parts of the US from the 1700s to the 1900s. Knowledge of the German language is not required - the goal is to help guide your research and provide resources for translating the records. The group is a special interest group of the Dallas Genealogical Society and is freely open to all.
