Learn about native grass and wild flower restoration at the Connemara Meadow Nature Preserve, a 72 acre preserve located on the border between Plano and Allen, TX. The Blackland Prairie ecoregion covers most of the eastern metroplex and is significantly depleted. Various techniques used for restoration will be discussed, with failures and successes highlighted.  Special attention will be devoted to restoration actions which can be completed in backyards and small open spaces.

Bob Mione has served as the volunteer Connemara Meadow Nature Preserve Manager since 2011.  He began volunteering at the Meadow in Oct of 2008.  Bob completed the requirements and became a certified State of Texas Master Naturalist in 2012 and is a member of the Blackland Prairie Master Naturalist Chapter. Bob was the winner of the Unsung Hero Award in Dallas in 2021, he won the State of Texas outstanding individual award from the Texas Commission of Environment Quality in 2023 and the Connemara Meadow won the Keep Texas Beautiful award for best project in 2023.
