Discuss the NEA Big Read book In to the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea.

The book is a story about a besieged Mexican village without any men and a group of young women who go to the United States looking for defenders, learning truths about themselves along the way. The book depicts the contradictions of the US-Mexico border as a place where cultures and economies blend while countries are divided.

Pick up a copy of the book (in English or Spanish) at the reference desk.

NEA Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.
