Event Details
In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we are hosting an online poetry workshop led by local artist Buster Spiller-Craft titled "Operation C.O.W.R.I.T.E." In this workshop teens will celebrate diversity by finding their voice and establishing their own sense of cultural identity, creativity, and pride.
Using the writing prompt, “emancipation proclamation,” teens will be challenged to create their own emancipation proclamation. In the spirit of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., they will declare to the world, who they ARE and not who the world says they are. They will be encouraged to share all facets of who they are and share the beauty of all the communities they belong to in an effort to resist all forms of internalized and externalized oppression.
This workshop is virtual and will take place via zoom. Registration is required so that you may receive the Zoom information.
This workshop is sponsored by the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture.
