The Preston Royal Branch of Dallas Public Library is celebrating its 60th birthday! We are pulling out all the stops on this special day.

Preston Royal opened on March 21, 1964, making it the oldest, non-refurbished library in the system. It has also been one of the busiest branches in the system ever since! We hear many stories from patrons who used to come to Preston Royal as a child and now they bring their children and grandchildren to share the Preston Royal experience. Today, we remember stories of Preston Royal from over the decades.

Some of the festivities and displays for the day:

  • Display of history and photos of Preston Royal and the Preston Hollow area since 1964.
  • Memory Share Center - reminisce on your own fond memories at the library.
  • Performance by Beckles Dancing Company at 11 a.m.
  • Cupcake Walk
  • Birthday card craft for kids
