SHHH! Do you want to join the Secret Society? The Secret Society of Children’s Books is a bi-monthly lecture series that features a particular historical item from the Dallas Public Library’s Siddie Joe Johnson Children’s Literature Collection. 

 

This month we are featuring The Railway Children by E. Nesbit, a classic story about the adventures of three children living near a railway station after the mysterious disappearance of their father. 

 

See the 1906 first edition, find out about the author and the story, learn about trains from the Grapevine Vintage Railroad, see a model train setup and hear readings from the book by members of the Dallas Children’s Theater.
