Join the Secret Society of Children's Books for the next program in the series showcasing rare and unusual items from the Siddie Joe Johnson Children's Literature Collection. See the original hand written manuscript of the story Sara Crewe by Francis Hodgson Burnett. View the manuscript and original 1887 bound St. Nicholas Magazine in which it was published as we discuss the author, the historical background of the story, and read excerpts. Sara Crewe was expanded by Burnett to become the classic children’s book A Little Princess, published in 1905.
