Big Heart Theater: Special Musical Theater Workshop

Big Heart Theater will provide three consecutive workshops designed specifically for teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their family members. Led by music therapist Elsie Jemaneh, choreographer Daunte "Cheesy" Borner, and theater director Lisa Lee Schmidt, the workshops will use the arts to instill life skills such as collaboration, communication, and teamwork. They will also provide participants with a chance to experience the joy of creation! 
 

To have a truly thriving, equitable society, it is important that we value the voices of people who are marginalized, whether by economic status, geography, transportation, racial bias, or ability. Big Heart seeks to shatter each of these historic barriers. These arts workshops will provide a vehicle for creativity, for agency, for equity, and for joy, in a place where all participants feel valued.
