Everyone will encounter a wild animal in an urban environment at some point in their lives.  Understanding both the risks and benefits posed by the mammals, reptiles, birds, and insects that live in neighborhood environments empowers residents to take appropriate action when encountering these animals.  It also allows them to foresee potential conflicts with wild animals and prevent them (such as preventing rodent infestations).
