The first Dallas Poet Laureate, Joaquín Zihuatanejo, will hold office hours for aspiring poets in the city of Dallas! These sessions are designed to help Dallas poets work on individual poems and to eventually create a poetry manuscript.

Every 2nd Wednesday of the month, we will have a movie screening for all teens, tweens, and school-age kids starting at 3 p.m. The movie changes every month!
All films will be rated G or PG.
Kids and teens will be provided with a quiet, relaxed environment in which to complete homework and school assignments for at least an hour each week. Library staff will be on hand to assist and answer questions as needed.

The Texas Bluebonnet Award is a children’s choice literary award for Texas children (grades 3 - 6) to vote for their favorite title from the 20 nominated. If they read 5, they will vote for their favorite at their school in January.

Totem poles are a traditional way of telling the stories of First Nation families and clans, and of keeping records of important historical events.
Create your own totem pole then discuss what story your totem pole tells!
Each class features beginner level instructions in guitar by an experienced instructor. Instruments provided. Great for ages 8 - 18. For the best learning experience, students should try to attend as many sessions as possible.
