Reading to therapy dogs can help improve kids' confidence in their reading abilities. Since dogs are not judgmental, kids can read to them without feeling the pressure and anxiety that may come from reading to peers. 

The Family Learning Program is a companion program to Saturday English language classes. Students' children ages 6-11 will do fun, educational, and creative activities while their parents are in class.

The Dallas Fire Department will bring Sparky the Firedog puppet to the Arcadia Park Library to teach us about fire and water safety. Fun, interactive, and presented in a manner kids can understand.

The first Dallas Poet Laureate, Joaquín Zihuatanejo, will hold office hours for aspiring poets in the city of Dallas! These sessions are designed to help Dallas poets work on individual poems and to eventually create a poetry manuscript.

Spruce up our library branch with your art!

We will provide the canvases and paints for kids to create artwork that will be displayed in the library!

Each class features beginner level instructions in guitar by an experienced instructor. Instruments provided. Great for ages 8 - 18. For the best learning experience, students should try to attend as many sessions as possible.

Stop by our Pop-Up Stuffed Animal Hospital! Bring your well-loved stuffed animal, maybe in need of a bit of repair, and our volunteer ESTs (Emergency Stuffing Technicians) will take a look at them.

Are you a gamer? If so, stop by Lancaster Kiest Branch Library and play popular games on the ipad such as: Super Mario Run, Mario Kart, Roblox and much more!

A representative from Cedar Hill State Park will come to the library to engage with information about animal adaptations.

Join us the 4th Thursday of every month for a themed Lego challenge where we will listen to an introductory story and watch a Lego movie while you create. 

Work solo or in a team and flex your imagination and creation skills!

Learn about the forces that make a kite fly, then build your own!  Kites are affected by wind, weight or gravity, lift, drag, and thrust. They must be lightweight but also strong. Take your kite home to test it!

Participants will play with some mexican wooden and paper mache mexican masks and design their own mask inspired by masks from around the world in the first class, and create their own masks in the second class.
